Welcome to our new web page! Ink Drop started in 2022 as a way to showcase creative works produced in the English Creative Writing classes of the Fachsprachenzentrum (Language Centre) of Bielefeld University, Germany. These courses began, as fate would have it, in the Summer 2020 semester – the first Covid-19 semester. Students stuck at home had a chance to funnel their fear and frustration into creating literary works while keeping their English skills fresh. The courses proved so fruitful than in 2022 we started collecting some of the bes works and including them in an annual magazine, called Ink Drop. After our third issue in 2024 we wanted to find a way to share these works more immediately – and the Ink Drop web idea was born. (slowly, but we got there in the end!)
On these pages you will find both new and older works from some of our most talented writers. These students have managed to create works of art in a language not their own – something most of us would not be able to do.
We have, until this point, limited ourselves to works created in our created in our creative writing courses. Now, however, we’re opening up to the full university community. So if you study or work at Bielefeld University (or Hochschule Bielefeld), and you write, get in touch with us! (inkdrop@uni-bielefeld.de) We’re also open to other forms of artistic expression, such as photography or illustration.
At the moment we are concentrating on works in English – however we hope to open up to Spanish and French soon, and perhaps other languages.
